Cleaning up your toxic overload-Soaking

Soaking in a variety of bath salts has many benefits all of which promote detoxification of the body. Soaking is very relaxing and can calm the brain promoting relaxation and calmness. The act of soaking alone promotes health and well-being. But adding an assortment of salts and other healing substances can really enhance the benefits of the soak.

Simply adding Epsom Salt, Himalayan or Dead Sea Salt creates a great detoxing and destressing element to the soak. All are naturally occurring compounds and have a variety of benefits.

Epsom Salt is made of magnesium and sulfate. These minerals are easily absorbed by the skin. Magnesium is particularly healthy and reduces inflammation. Inflammation in the body is the culprit in most diseases, disorders, and various other irritation issues with the body. The sulfates help flush out toxins and heavy metals.

Dead Sea Salts have been used since ancient times for healing and have been credited for giving life-giving powers. Dead sea salts consist of 21 minerals including magnesium, potassium, sodium, sulfur, zinc, calcium, iodide and bromide, all of which work together to heal and detox the body. Himalayan sea salts have many of the same benefits of Dead Sea.

Ginger root may be added to the bath to enhance the detox process. It has anti-inflammatory and anti-mucus properties, it is a natural decongestant and it opens the pores. Adding fresh ginger root to the bath can make you sweat which is good to clear out congestion. Combining sea salt and ginger root is a good for kicking a cold or infection out of your system.

Other good additives are baking soda, almond or jojoba oil and essential oils like lavender.

Add no more than 2 cups of salt to warm water and soak for 10-30 min.
